If you’re planning a trip to Miami and wondering where to base yourself, Wynwood should be at the top of your list. We recently spent time in this vibrant neighbourhood and came away completely captivated – not just by the world-famous street art, but by the incredible restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and boutiques that make it one of the most exciting urban districts in the US.
Wynwood sits right on the doorstep of the Design District and Midtown, making it the perfect base for exploring a wider slice of Miami. Here are the top things to do in Wynwood Miami.
Unmissable Things to Do in Miami Florida
Once a warehouse district, Wynwood has transformed into one of Miami’s most creative and culturally rich neighbourhoods. From world-class street art and independent galleries to craft breweries, immersive installations and some of the best food in the city, there is no shortage of things to do in Wynwood.
Whether you’re visiting for a few hours or using it as your Miami base – which we highly recommend – here’s our first-hand guide to making the most of it.
1. Wynwood Walls
No visit to Wynwood is complete without time at Wynwood Walls, the open-air street art museum that put the neighbourhood on the global map. What began as a bold regeneration project has evolved into one of the most photographed outdoor art spaces in the world, with giant murals by internationally renowned artists covering every surface.
Inside you’ll find a curated outdoor museum spanning over 80,000 square feet, with works that rotate regularly – so even if you’ve visited before, there’s a good chance something new will catch your eye. As you enter, you can’t miss Temper Tot (also known as Baby Hulk) – a gigantic green baby statue by Ron English.
Beyond the murals themselves, Wynwood Walls also has a shop and cafe within the complex, making it easy to spend a couple of hours here without even stepping back onto the street. The best time to visit is on a weekday morning when the crowds are thinner and the light is beautiful for photography. Weekends can get busy, particularly in the afternoon – if you do visit on a Saturday or Sunday, arriving early is the best way to enjoy it at a more relaxed pace.

3. Wynwood Jungle & Lumen sculpture
Wynwood Jungle is a lush, tropical oasis tucked within Miami’s vibrant arts district – a striking contrast to the neighbourhood’s industrial architecture and bold street murals. This open-air garden space weaves together native Florida plants, towering palms, and exotic greenery to create an immersive jungle-like escape. With its laid-back, bohemian atmosphere, it doubles as an events venue and gathering spot, offering a refreshing green retreat where art, nature, and community intersect.
Address: 51 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127, United States
A six minute walk away as part of the Society Wynwood development, you’ll find Lumen. This striking sculpture was created by renowned South African artist Daniel Popper.
It’s worth a visit to see Popper’s immersive, larger-than-life work up close – but it’s more of a quick stop than a lingering destination, so factor that into your itinerary accordingly.

Wynwood Marketplace
Wynwood Marketplace is an open-air market and food court that has plenty of potential given its location and size, but it’s fair to say it could do with a refresh to bring it in line with the quality of the neighbourhood around it. Worth a wander if you’re passing, but it doesn’t quite match the standard set by Wynwood’s other food destinations – yet.
Address: 2250 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127, United States

How to Get There and Get Around
Wynwood is easily accessible from Miami International Airport, which is around 20-30 minutes by car depending on traffic. For getting around once you’re there, you have several good options.
The free Wynwood Trolley is one of the neighbourhood’s best-kept secrets – a complimentary service that loops through Wynwood and connects to surrounding areas, making it easy to get around without a car. It’s a great way to explore if you’d rather leave the driving to someone else.
For more flexibility, bookable cab and rideshare services are widely available throughout Wynwood. Uber operates extensively across Miami and is reliable for both airport transfers and short hops between neighbourhoods. Waymo, the self-driving cab service, is also available in Miami and offers a genuinely memorable way to get around the city – well worth trying if you haven’t experienced it before.
If you’re planning to explore beyond Wynwood into the Design District, Midtown or further afield, having a rideshare app on your phone is the most convenient approach.
