History of the Wasing Estate

The Wasing Estate has a rich history, stretching back over several centuries. Originally settled by the Knights Hospitallers, it was subsequently transferred to Salisbury College, before being gifted to the Forster family.

Ownership then passed through various hands before settling with the Mount family, who have owned it since 1759. John Mount, who purchased the estate, had a very successful map publishing business in London.

This long lineage and stewardship has imbued the estate with a deep sense of continuity and preservation. Through its evolution, Wasing Estate has embraced modernity while respecting its past.

The estate now boasts one of the finest wedding venues in Britain. It also offers unique outdoor experiences such as wild swimming and sauna facilities, and plays host to enchanting concerts and festivals that welcome guests from all corners.

Concerts and Festivals

The Wasing Estate plays host to various concerts and festivals throughout the year, drawing music enthusiasts from near and far. From live open-air performances to intimate acoustic sessions, the estate provides a picturesque setting for music events.

We recently attended their Solstice On The Mount musical event – an amazing experience. Guests make their way through an illuminated woodland trail, passing shrines along the way.

Timed around the Summer Solstice on the longest day of the year, Solstice on the Mount is a celebration of music and community. The annual lineup includes diverse genres such as folk, and contemporary pop.

Held in the midst of nature, Solstice has featured iconic artists such as Ben Howard, Primal Scream and Jack Johnson. We were fortunate to enjoy sets by Nick Mulvey and Rodrigo y Gabriela on the main stage.

VIP (hospitality) tickets also include access to Hilltop. This idyllic space has panoramic views of the ampitheatre, its own bar and loos and hospitality lane fast track access.

All concert-goers have access to the Food Glade, which has many different stalls selling dishes from around the world. There’s an accessible viewing area available to Accessible ticket holders, and parking close to the concert site.

One of the most magical elements of Solstice on the Mount is the Fireside Sessions. These take place once the acts on the main stage have finished performing.

Attendees make their way to the Sacred Glade, and take seats around the fireplace for some truly enchanting performances. Ajeet gave a mesmerizing performance, and we also heard great things about Awarë’s set but we were too tired to stay up for it.

However, if you have the stamina you can see the morning sun in with a ceremonial procession that sounded like a lot of fun! Bell tents are available to rent, and there are also camping options.
