Travel Wishlist 2015 – Luxury Columnist

There are so many amazing places on my Travel Wishlist 2015. I’m excited about the following travel plans, and there are plenty more that I would love to fit in!

We’re taking a short break to Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, part of the Elite Hotels group in Sussex to enjoy their luxurious spa. It’s also got an 18 hole golf course although we’ll no doubt take advantage of the mountain bike trails to go cycling. I’ve previously stayed in their Tylney Hall property in Hampshire, which was a great place for a weekend away.

I’m looking forward to visiting Longueville Manor, a luxurious 5 star Relais & Chateaux property, and sampling chef Andrew Baird’s 3 AA Rosette cuisine, as well as nearby Ormer, Shaun Rankin’s Michelin starred restaurant. By all accounts, there’s so much to see in Jersey!

Longeuville Manor
I’m aiming to revisit the spectacular 5 star Relais & Chateaux property, Le Mas Candille in Mougins next year. I experienced their fantastic Shiseido Spa last year, it’s the first one in Europe and I can highly recommend it. The artworks dotted around the hotel are by local artists and absolutely beautiful. Their Michelin starred restaurant  has a chef’s table for 2 people, that I’d love to experience.

Hopefully we will make a detour via Bourges in the Centre of France to visit my goddaughter and her family. Her English is getting really good now!

I’m off to Ravello, Italy for a wedding in September. My friend and her fiance fell in love with the place and I am sure that I will too. It’s a little village set on a hill overlooking the Amalfi coast and has been popular with celebrities for many years. My dream hotel would be the Belmond Hotel Caruso, a former 11th century palace. The terraced gardens and infinity pool look amazing! The private villa at La Torre looks equally amazing, and finally I’d love to fit in a trip to Herculaneum, an archaeological site to rival Pompeii.

Before driving to Ravello, we’re going to have a weekend break at the Dorchester Collection’s Hotel Eden Rome. It’s famous for its Michelin-starred restaurant, La Terrazza dell’Eden and is really close to the Spanish steps. Both me and my husband have been separately but this time we’ll be able to see Rome’s many hidden gems, the Vatican and the Colosseum together! We’ve even booked a photo shoot to really make the most out of our trip.

We usually go to Switzerland once a year to visit my husband’s family in Lugano. It’s in Swiss Italy and has the most amazing setting on a huge lake. There’s a micro-climate so it’s much warmer than the rest of Switzerland, being so close to Italy.

We’re planning a trip to visit historic Woburn Abbey and will take a short break at the Woburn Hotel within its grounds so that we also have plenty of time to see Woburn Abbey’s artworks, one of the most important private collections in the world.

TRAVEL WISHLIST – I’d love to visit some of these places below.

I loved Bath so much on my visit last year that I’d like to return in 2015 so my husband can experience the Thermae Spa – it has the most amazing outdoor rooftop pool and also 4 steam rooms, each with a different fragrance. I’d also make sure to visit the Cross Bath, which has a separate entrance and is great for private parties.

I’ve got family on the stunning South Devon coast so would love to make a detour via The Cary Arms, a charming boutique hotel owned by the famous de Savary hoteliers. They really know how to make a place feel like a home from home and we loved their sister property in the Cotswolds, The Old Swan and Minster Mill.

I absolutely love archaeology and my husband is very into history so Petra in Jordan would definitely be on my to visit list. There are some fantastic luxury hotels for us to choose from.

We have a friend who worked on the financing for the Aman Resort Sveti Stefan, and this is one place that I’d love to see. I’ve heard that Montenegro is incredibly unspoilt and Sveti Stefan is unique – a tiny islet with cobbled streets and fantastic sea views.

Aman Hotel Montenegro
We’re also hoping to fit in a trip to Borgo Egnazia, a luxury hotel with a unique concept: the Nowhere Else Academies. You can learn photography tips, or how to prepare the best Apulian family recipes and cocktails, or fishing though I’d leave that last one to my husband!

One of my most memorable holidays was my safari to Tanzania, superbly organised by luxury travel specialist Cazenove+Loyd. We had some amazing encounters with the wildlife, some planned, others not – like the time an elephant turned up in camp! It would be amazing to go on safari to another country and see even more animals.

I’ve been meaning to go to Thailand for a while, it would be a perfect wedding anniversary destination. Chiang Mai would definitely be on my to visit list and the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa looks like a perfect haven. I’d also love to visit the Soneva Kiri Resort as I’m intrigued by their Chocolate Room!  It’s apparently a never ending supply of chocolate, sounds good to me.

  • Angie SilverSpoon

Great list! If you ever go to Chiang Mai, stay at the Four Seasons, it is one of the best hotels I’ve been to, absolutely heaven on earth!!

    Lots of love,

    SilverSpoon London

    • Thanks for the tip – the Four Seasons does look amazing in Chiang Mai

  • Kelly Michelle

Awesome list there Suze! Petra is incredible and I will be totally honest I had no idea what Petra was until I arrived and was completely blown away with it’s beauty (however the folks that were talking about Petra the whole trip were disappointed, not sure why or how!). Great to see Bedfordshire in your travel list as that is the county that I live in xx

    • Thanks Kelly, I might pick your brains on things we should see near Woburn in that case!

  • Wow, what a list! Very pleasing to see some great British places on there too – a ‘staycation’ is so underrated! I am heading to the Amalfi Coast for my honeymoon this year so will be sure to check out the Belmond Hotel Caruso as it sounds idyllic. Polly xx

    • Hope you have an amazing honeymoon, I have heard that Capri is amazing too so also hoping to go there.

  • Angie SilverSpoon

PS I’ve had dinner at Hotel Eden, it’s spectacular!!

  • love&limoncello

Wow! A busy 2015 ahead. I really want to stay at a Relais and Chateaux hotel. Reading your reviews from 2014 they seem fabulous. xx

    • Fingers crossed for you for 2015, can highly recommend them. Looking forward to our catch up tomorrow!

  • You have some great plans for 2015. As somebody who lives for their holidays I can really relate to the sentiment of having a list of plans and a wish list. Here’s to a fantastic 2015 🙂

    • Thanks very much, wishing you a wonderful 2015 with lots of foodie travel adventures!

  • Wowee, that is a busy schedule! What beautiful places on your list too, I can’t wait to follow you there this year (on the blog of course, not in real life – that would just be weird).

    • Ha ha, that would be strange! More seriously though, best of luck with your visa. Must be hard being away from your family

      • It has been, but I am glad I have managed to sort at least a few things out so I get to go and see them this year 🙂 it has been a year since I last saw my family, this reunion will be mega!

  • OMG. You have my dream life – lol!! There are so many amazing destinations on your list that I hope to tick off one day. Le Mas Candille sounds amazing, and Jersey isn’t somewhere I have had on my radar but you’ve sparked my interest now. Happy travels 🙂

    • Le Mas Candille is stunning, and Jersey is very picturesque. Hope you enjoy Kos, I would love to visit there

  • Runawaykiwi

Bath is the perfect getaway destination, so close to London but feels like a totally different time period. And don’t get me started on that pool on top of the spa…heaven!

    • Yes would love to go back, it was Winter when I went but really lovely up there. By the way loved your latest blog post about feeling homesick. I used to live in France so can definitely relate to that

  • Katherine MacGregor

Wow!!! I am so jealous! It’s my absolute dream to go to Jordan. You are going to love the Amalfi Coast. Heaven.

    • Well I haven’t got Jordan arranged yet, but fingers crossed! If you have any Amalfi Coast favourite spots do let me know as will be looking for tips

  • Lucy

You do have the best taste, I love Devon and Switzerland has been on the list for a while. Now you can’t go wrong with Italy the entire country is beautiful and the Amalfi coast breathtaking Lucy x

    • You’re very kind Lucy – I’d travel to every country in the world if I had the time. Really looking forward to the Amalfi coast!

  • Makes me want to pack my bag and travel again. 🙂 Lovely choices.

  • Mar

Would love to visit the Amalfi Coast and a Safari. Both on my bucket list. Cheers to 2015 🙂

  • Top of my list this year is a trip to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Can’t wait!
    Claire xx

    • Wow, two destinations that I would love to visit. Will look forward to reading your posts!

  • Wow, these all sound like utterly delicious destinations & places to stay – bring on 2015!

  • Awesome list – I hope your 2015 brings you lots of travel joy 🙂

  • That is one impressive list! I can vouch for Sveti Stefan too as I went there last year, although I just admired the gorgeous hotel.

    • Ooh I might pick your brains for Montenegro tips if we do get to go. Not necessarily going to attempt all that this year!

      • You can definitely pick my brains about Montenegro, I think it’s a real gem of a place and not too overcrowded with tourists.

  • Kasha Dubaniewicz

You’ve got some spectacular adventures ahead this year! Can’t wait to read about them all x

  • Andrea @GreenandTurquoise

    Lu |

    • Thanks Lu, something to look forward to with these dark nights!

  • This is the ultimate 2015 travel list! I love it!
Amalfi Coast is definitely up there on my wish list — I can’t wait to see pictures!

  • JustGoPlaces

Wow! You have a great list of really diverse places. Jordan has been on my wish list ever since I saw Indiana Jones ages ago.

    • Oh yes I completely forgot that Jordan was featured in Indiana Jones! Fingers crossed that I get there this year. Hope you have an amazing 2015

  • Lady Lilith Bloodcrave

    How amazing. What great places.

    • Thanks for checking out the blog, glad you liked my wishlist!

  • Ah, Lugano is lovely! But if you come in the spring or summer, Zurich is wonderful too! So many beautiful, picture-perfect spots.

I love Sussex and I have had Ashdown in my list for a while, especially since it’s not far from where my friend C. lives! Next time we go visit I might make more of an effort to check it out.

    • Yes we sometimes fly in to Zurich, I love the chocolate shops there!

  • The Amalfi Coast and Montenegro are high on my list too! I’ve specifically not done a travel wishlist this year because not one of my plans worked out last year and I landed up going to completely different places!

    • This was part of a Travel link up and quite good fun to do but I’m sure I will end up going to some different places. Means that I need to get planning anyway!

  • Shikha (whywasteannualleave)

Petra is on my list too but I always have a job persuading my husband to go back to places he’s already been – guess I could always go without him!! ☺ We did a Tanzanian safari for honeymoon & it was the best holiday of my life. I think I left a piece of my heart inot that beautiful country & really want to return and explore a different area. Great list Suze!

    • Thanks Shikha, didn’t know you had been to Tanzania – they’re such lovely people. We went to the Selous, Jongomero and Ruaha. It was before I started the blog but I may do a blog post about it anyway as it was so amazing!

      • Shikha (whywasteannualleave)

That’s so cool Suze – we went to Selous too!! I’m so excited to hear that was one of the places you went as so many go to Serengeti etc and Selous is definitely off the beaten track! One day, I’d love to revisit it and bring back all those memories but I do also want to see Ngorongoro, Serengeti etc!

        • Loved Selous and Jongomero was even more remote. I’d really like to see the migration in the Serengeti too!

  • Jean|HolySmithereens

This list is making me drool! I totally loved Bath when I visited it 2 months ago. Jordan is also on my wish list. fingers crossed 🙂

    • Oh thank you. Now I have to get organising! Was the Thermae spa open when you went?

I’ve been to Thailand twice—first was on our honeymoon in Krabi, then recently spent the holidays with my family in Bangkok. It’s one of those places I’ll always want to go back to!

    • I’ve heard great things about Krabi, I might just pick your brains for Bangkok tips if I do get some travel plans sorted!

      • Jae

By all means, do! I’ve been posting about our recent trip on the blog, and I’d love for you to drop by. Sorry if that came out like a shameless plug!

We were supposed to travel further to Chiang Mai, but it’d be more expensive since we’re travelling as a family of six! At least there’s a reason to go back!

        • Hi Jae, your trip posts are great! Loved the street market shots

          • Jae

Thanks, Suze! It means a lot. 🙂
