My Luxury May Moments

May could well be my favourite month, when Spring has finally sprung and the days are so much longer. Not only is it my birthday month, but lots of friends seem to have one in May so there’s plenty of celebrating to be done. Putting this list of my luxury May moments together, I realise how lucky I am to have such great opportunities and fantastic friends and family to share them with.

I just had to visit the Hermes Wanderland exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. We managed to get there on the final day and were really impressed with the imaginative displays.

On a slightly less highbrow note, we had a blast at
Book of Mormon, if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

May was chock-a-block with wonderful events, if only the weather had played ball throughout! Mappin and Webb showcased their designer jewellery and watches in the august surroundings of Spencer House, overlooking Green Park.

Clerkenwell is one of my favourite parts of London and Champagne Jacquart held a fantastic event there to relaunch its Rosé Cube, coincidng with Clerkenwell Design Week. The backdrop was the stunning Norman Crypt of the Museum of the Order of St John.

From there it was off to the Hoxton Hotel for a Gin Mare tasting.

And finally I sampled the delicious Bloom Gin Cocktails at One Aldwych.

We fitted in a short break to the beautiful island of Jersey, staying at picturesque Longueville Manor, a Relais & Chateaux member. One of the highlights was visiting La Mare vineyard, and I’ve included more photos in our guide to Jersey.

I also enjoyed The Elite London show, where we got to sit in private jets and saw Spitfires flying right over our heads.

This was one of my most foodie months, with visits to The Saint James’s Hotel and Club to taste the Michelin starred cuisine of  William Drabble and an alternative and very tasty Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea at The Stafford Hotel, with Mr Luxe as my co-reviewer. More culinary delights in St James were to come at Sake No Hana and Tredwell’s.

I popped into The Bulgari Hotel, Knightsbridge, for lunch at Alain Ducasse’s Rivea. They’ve got impressive suites, event spaces and even their own screening room.

And two days later I was back to Knightsbridge, enjoying the canapés and secret rooftop bar at Les Gourmets des Ternes.

Nuno Mendes, of Chiltern Firehouse fame, has opened a casual Portugese restaurant in Spitalfields Market, Taberna do Mercado. You may have to queue but it will be worth it for the simple but flavoursome dishes and I’ll be posting a review soon.

I’m pretty excited to be returning to Rome, having visited quite a few years ago – any travel tips welcome! We’re also heading to country house hotel Ashdown Park in Sussex for a breath of fresh air.

What have been your favourite moments in May? I’d love to hear about them.

    • This was my first round up so a bit of a trial run, glad you liked it! Would love to visit some day, by the way do you know Dohaluxe, she was in touch recently?

      • Whoops, so it is – sorry! Either way, I love it so keep them coming 🙂 I have never met Dohaluxe but I discovered her blog recently and really like it! P x

  • Happy happy belated birthday!!! It seems like you had the perfect birthday month, indeed! I love the idea of a blogger meetup (we should really organize something like that here in NYC!), and a huge Hermes fan, I’m sure I would have adored that exhibit!

    • I think you should organise a blogger meet up if there aren’t any in NYC – it was such good fun! The Hermes exhibition was fantastic, especially for something that was only on for a few weeks, they’d gone to a lot of trouble

  • Wonderful moments and a really great photogpraphy. Your blog is such an inspiration.

  • Kam

Your May looked so fun with plenty of good food and drink! Hope you have an even better June 😉
