Tantalising Tapas – Brindisa at Borough

Brindisa at Borough Market is an old favourite of mine. It seems like a new tapas bar springs up every day but this is the original and arguably one of the best in London.

Located close to the Shard and to London Bridge, there’s seating outside if you get there early enough. We bagged the last bar table inside, late on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Patatas bravas are a staple here, the sauce is particularly delicious.

I’d recommend the garlic prawns, they’re fantastic.

The black rice and squid melts in your mouth.

In an attempt to be healthy, we also opted for the wilted spinach with pine nuts and raisins. Whilst this was tasty, we did feel that we could have made something quite similar at home. I tend to opt for dishes that I couldn’t make at home but at least this gave us a new recipe idea.

The croquetas jamon (ham and cheese balls) are a must have. Brindisa does the best ones that we have ever eaten in London, although CaminoIberica and Mas que Menos give them a run for their money.

The tortillas here are wonderful, we opted for the chorizo one, accompanied by a delicate mayonnaise.

Considering how many carbs we were eating, we felt surprisingly light afterwards. My companion decided that he had room for more, so we headed off in search of the perfect gelateria.

Gelateria 3BIS was born in Rimini, Italy in 1987 and now they’ve brought their artisanal gelato to Borough Market. My companion went for the mint choc chip – fig and mascarpone looked tempting too.

Couldn’t resist a photo of these two ladies in their colourful saris outside.
