Have you dreamt of starring in a life of luxury? Lexus made it possible for the unwitting participants of their immersive theatre experience, The Life RX. Featuring Jude Law and the largest 360° event ever recorded, it’s a ground-breaking initiative in keeping with Lexus’ track record of innovation.
100 members of the public were invited to attend what they thought was a car launch. However they were in for a big surprise as they were swiftly guided into a new RX SUV and handed an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
Not only did they get the full 360º experience, but you can too, thanks to the immersive YouTube video. Just click on the left-hand direction buttons to move the view in any direction! Using 80 GoPro cameras, it certainly gives a tempting glimpse of the lifestyle you might enjoy behind the wheel of the 2016 RX SUV. With both LG and Samsung having recently launched 360º cameras, virtual reality is set to take the world by storm.
The film crew, who had been hiding up to this point sprang into action, capturing their journey as a film star from a film set to the red carpet.
Guests took to it like a duck to water, being greeted by hordes of fans and paparazzi as they exited the Lexus. Whilst they were being interviewed on the red carpet, Jude Law came up to ask them for his car keys back. The surprises weren’t over as they then attended the film premiere of The Life RX with themselves in the starring role, participated in a press conference and enjoyed a lavish after party in the Mondrian Hotel’s rooftop bar.
As for the Lexus RX, it’s as unique as the film – with a striking appearance and top of the range specs. Mr Luxe and I are really interested in switching to a hybrid car, both my parents and father in law have one. Not only are they fantastic for the environment and for economies of fuel but these days you don’t need to sacrifice performance. Lexus are at the forefront of innovation, having launched the original RX in 1998, the first ever SUV offering ultimate comfort and luxury. In 2004 they introduced the world’s first luxury hybrid, the RX 400h SUV. Their new RX mixes eye catching design with pioneering technology and refinement. Takayuki Katsuda, RX Chief Engineer says: “With the all-new Lexus RX we’ve pushed the limits of bold and iconic design, while building on the pioneering values of previous RX generations.”
The Lexus RX has a turbocharged engine and the ability to select from three Drive Modes – Eco, Normal or Sport, enabling you to fine tune the vehicle to match your driving conditions and mood. In eco mode, the vehicle drives in virtual silence, and uses no petrol, producing zero carbon emissions. Even better, the battery never needs charging.
As you approach the Lexus 4x, its four door handles illuminate, giving you a truly unique Japanese welcome. Once you step inside, you’ll no doubt be impressed by the Lexus craftsmanship. Cutting edge laser technology by Yamaha’s piano division has been used to engrave the optional wooden door trims and centre console. There’s ample legroom in the front and rear, and superb sound quality from the exclusive optional 15-speaker Mark Levinson® audio.
In terms of safety, Lexus has done some pioneering work and the new RX has integrated some really useful features. Its body structure improves passive safety, and the Lexus Safety System + collision detection and Adaptive Cruise Control come as standard. A handy display also features speed limit and pedestrian warning indicators.
You’re sure to turn heads for all the right reasons in the new RX. Continue your interactive journey online at Facebook or Twitter or head to the Lexus website where you select fun experiences to find out more about this exciting new range.
