My Luxury May Adventures – A Travel-Packed Month!

My Luxury May Adventures – A Travel-Packed Month!

May is one of my favourite months, and with a birthday at the beginning it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get some travelling in! With trips to the Algarve, Paris, Cannes and Somerset, I couldn’t have asked for better luxury May adventures…

CULTURE VULTURE

What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring than with a blooming lovely tour of Chelsea Flower Show. I was particularly taken with the hand-sewn poppies and the floral cut-out of the Queen’s head.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY

I enjoyed an evening with fellow influencers on the Good Ship Benefit, hosted by Macy’s, the famous United States’ department store. The great news is that it’s open to the public, check out their website for further details about the Upper Deck restaurant, afternoon tea, the Brow Lounge and more.

macys-good-ship-benefitI had a great time at the Cointreau Creative Crew UK Grant Scheme Award Ceremony, hosted by Maison Cointreau and iconic French supermodel Laetitia Casta at Liberty London. There was a fascinating theatrical performance and several creatives were awarded bursaries for their work.

STYLE FILE

This month I tried out two fantastic beauty treatments – a medical pedicure by Margaret Dabbs and a tailored facial by Ada Ooi. I’ve also been testing a rather unique beauty product – Bio-Energy Snail Secretion Serum by Bio Essence Skincare. It comes from Singapore, where women generally spend more on skincare than makeup, believing that beauty starts with great skin. This snail serum promises to stimulate skin renewal and improve the texture of the skin. I’ve certainly found it very hydrating and my skin looks more rested when I wake up so will see how I get on with continual use. It’s available from Janiro in the UK, in case you’d like to give it a go.

What with all the trips abroad, I was in need of good sunscreen and Medik8 Physical Sunscreen was just the ticket. Protecting skin from UVA and UVB exposure, it’s rich in natural antioxidants like thiotaine that helps to prevent damage caused by UV radiation. I like the fact that it doesn’t contain any chemical sunscreen and it was quickly absorbed by my skin with no white residue. I’m prone to redness so looking forward to testing another product of theirs, Red Alert Serum. Its key ingredients, teprenone and organic sage extract, calm redness and flare-ups.

Later in the month, I popped into Lalique’s boutique on Conduit Street for the launch of their S/S 2016 jewellery collection. They have a long standing association with art deco and their new costume jewellery range is strongly influenced by this era.

TRAVEL TALES

This month I shared some ideas on how to make the most of a weekend in Seville and how to get the best out of your DSLR thanks to tips that we picked up during our Seville photo tour.

We celebrated my birthday in style with a fantastic wellness break at EPIC SANA in the Algarve in Portugal, followed hot on its heels by a weekend at the Hotel Westminster in Paris.

Later in the month, we returned to France for the first ever S.Pellegrino Taste Experience at the Cannes Film Festival. Walking the red carpet was really special, though meeting so many fellow creatives and influencers and creatives was equally memorable.

Closer to home, I enjoyed an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Heathrow and we’ve just returned from a Bank Holiday getaway to Ston Easton Park in Somerset. There’s so much to do nearby – Wells is a lovely cathedral town, Bath is a short distance and Wookey Hole Caves are great fun.

WINING AND DINING

I’ve even travelled around the world whilst staying in London this month, with a delicious Asian inspired lunch at Parc Chinois showcasing luxurious hotels the Chedi Andermatt and the Chedi Muscat…

parc-chinois-mayfair…then on to Japan for an Omakase tasting menu at Tokimeite London with the lovely Angie. She has just come back from an amazing trip to Japan and the Philippines – I’m looking forward to reading all about it! For a taste of California in London, look no further than Hally’s in Fulham, it’s a charming café with a regular supper club. Talking of supper clubs, I took an amazing Edible Vacation at Christabel’s

COMING SOON IN JUNE

I’m heading to Hampshire and Hamburg, and I’ve got a staycation at the luxurious Landmark hotel planned. Who doesn’t love surprises – well, Accor have a mystery stay lined up for me, can’t wait to find out where it is!

How was your month of May, I’d love to hear what you got up to!

  • Kasha Dubaniewicz

Sounds like it was an eventful month, Suze! Would love to check out the Chelsea Flower Show – your photos look beautiful 🙂

    • I really recommend Chelsea Flower Show but Hampton Court is another good one coming up. Hope to see you at TM tonight!

  • What a fun month and some delicious travels!

  • What an incredible month of May it’s been for you Suze! And happy birthday month too. My May was infinitely better than my April , whew! Got to explore the Galapagos and a bit of Florida. Now back to winter in Oz. But the warm memories linger. 🙂

    • The Galapagos must have been incredible, I can’t wait to read all about it. We went to Florida for our honeymoon so it’s close to my heart

  • I love these round up posts! You really do have some great outings! 🙂

  • You had such a fab May, lady!

  • When I saw the name Marianne Majerus, I thought ‘this sounds like a typical Luxembourgish name’. I looked her up and indeed, she is from Luxembourg! Until now, I didn’t know about her work.

  • I love this round-up post. Good summary of your recent posts and the ones hopefully to come. Wow you had a busy May. We actually went to Glastonbury and Bath on our last bank holiday. We considered the Wookey Hole caves and then decided that it might be to commercial. Maybe we were wrong?

    • It’s very commercial but the caves themselves are interesting and definitely worth a visit

  • What an adventurous month Suze! So glad to have caught up on your news first-hand 🙂 and thank you for the kind mention – I’m taking a few tips from this post too, including Tokimeite! xx

  • Looks like you had such a wonderful and eventful month, Suze! You look absolutely gorgeous in that yellow dress, it was made for you! I remember being in awe when I viewed the post for the flower show, SO gorgeous and a flower lover’s dream come true! That Macy’s event sounds lovely, too! Thanks so much for sharing and I can’t wait to see what you share with us come June, which begins tomorrow, eek, so crazy!

    XO,

    • June has come around so quickly, hasn’t it, Jalisa! I’m looking forward to hearing what you get up to as well, your style trend piece in particular is a fascinating read

  • Your yellow dress in the first photograph is so stunning Suze! You really do look out of this world.

Really glad to hear you had a great May! Your experiences sound like so much fun! Your photographs from The Chelsea Flower Show look beautiful, next year I really would like to go.

My May was great thanks, enjoyed a lovely trip on board the Good Ship Benefit to view the new brow range. Also a lovely dining trip to Sake no Hana recently which was lovely.

I can’t believe it’s June today! Happy June First to you Suze! Hope you have a lovely month ahead.

    • Oh we missed each other on the Good Ship Benefit, we must have been there on different days. Sounds like you had a brilliant month! I’ll drop you an email

  • I can’t believe I managed to miss your birthday! Gosh, I’m terrible – is it any consolation to concur with Laura that you look like an absolute stunner in that yellow dress?

I’m also pleasantly surprised to see a South East Asian beauty brand in your roundup! I’ve always loved Bio Essence, especially their so-called ‘face slimming’ cream (I’m not sure it works, but the tingling sensation is quite fun).

What a colourful month you’ve had – travel, culinary adventures, good reads (I’ve added that Dream Decor book to my wishlist now!), you’ve got it all! Mine was exciting too but for reasons I can’t blog about, but hey at least you’ve heard all about it at Myki Sand Bar 😉 x

    Posh, Broke, & Bored

    • I’ve heard so many great things about S.E. Asian beauty brands, I think they’re very ahead of the curve! I’m thrilled for you and hope all the other pieces of the jigsaw fall into place soon

  • It looks like you had an amazing month with full of travelling and events! I know I said it before but you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress, a stunning lady on the red carpet 😉 I wish you an amazing month and full of adventure!

Gorgoeus pictures. Loved the jewelry, and Italy is so beautiful, it’s on my list to visit, hopefully next summer.

    • I hope that you manage to get to Italy, I’d love to revisit the Italian lakes myself

  • Another fabulous month ticked off the calendar! Again, you look beyond incredible in that yellow gown and I loved your account of Chelsea Flower Show 🙂

    Gabrielle | A Glass Of Ice x

    • Oh that’s so sweet, Gabrielle, and it was great comparing notes about Chelsea Flower Show

  • What a fabulous month! That yellow dress is so fetching on you!

    • That’s very kind Claire, by the way I nominated you earlier today for the 30 Plus awards!

  • Your May was certainly jam packed with amazing things! Those caves are stunning- are they in the UK?

    Rachel xx
    http://www.thedailyluxe.net/

    • Yes the Wookey Hole caves are actually the UK’s oldest tourist attraction apparently

  • I LOVE the idea of a wellness vacation. Our big trip this year will be in August (but not wellness-centric), so I’m going to try to have a “wellness” month of June, where I make myself do tons of yoga and drink green juice:-) May was a fabulous month for you!!

  • I still cant believe i’ve yet to make it to the Chelsea Flower show – the poppy display is impressive. I’m interested to hear your take on Rome and the Chedi Andermatt too as I’m thinking of booking a weekend there this coming winter – I’ve heard the spa is fantastic!

  • Frank Thomae

I was just reading your post when I saw that you had mentioned us. Thank you so much Suze! You are an elegant lady and I’m sure Spanky would rather be hanging out with you at posh celebrity parties than having me haul her up Balkan mountains 🙂
Sounds like a great month of May and I wish you an even better June!
