My Luxury March Adventures – Segway, Skiing and More!

The saying goes, do something you’re scared of every day, and in March I got to tick a few of those scary adventures off my list. First was Segway, I’ve done it once before inside but this time we were trying it outside and on snow! As for skiing, I’ve done it before when I lived in France but was extremely rusty! Little did we know that we’d be skiing in white-out conditions, where you can barely see the person in front of you ;-).

CULTURE VULTURE
We were lucky to experience a bespoke art lesson recently – this was another slightly scary event as I haven’t picked up a paintbrush other than to paint my walls in many years. I can recommend two fantastic exhibitions that are on in London at the moment – firstly, Botticelli Reimagined at the V&A, one of my favourite museums, and secondly the gloriously eccentric artworks of Hilma af Klint at the Serpentine Gallery. This female artist was incredibly far ahead in terms of her painting and deserves to be better known.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLY
I met up with a couple of friends from Luxembourg at the Waldorf Hilton for afternoon tea. The decor was lovely and there were couples dancing next door which was fun to see, however the service was a real issue. At any rate, it was lovely to get to know them!

We attended a really fun launch of Bentley Fragrance’s Infinite Rush at Sexy Fish and I wrote about the innovative Library Gym in Notting Hill which promises to get you fit in 15 minutes. They’ve just opened their new Marylebone private member’s club and that’s equally fabulous.

Yesterday I had a brilliant Derma Facial at ProSkin, which really soothed my red skin – this is me after the treatment, trust me, you don’t want to see the before shot!

Finally, I’ve been trialling some of the Supermood skin products, a holistic brand from Finland consisting of edible, topical, and therapeutic beauty products. With a strong commitment to ethics and purity, it was founded by Anne Kukkohovi, a Finnish entrepreneur and ex model who hosted Finland’s Next Top Model. The range is stocked by Sulis & Thermae in the UK. I tried their imaginatively named Ego Boost One Minute Facelift Serum, Youth Glo Babyface Mask and Beauty Sleep Absolute Bliss Serum. I certainly noticed an immediate and surprising increase in radiance from using all three products although you’d need a moisturizer on top of these. They’d be great before a night out as they really tighten the skin up.

We had a fantastic trip skiing and trying out snow Segway in Kitzbühel in Austria. It’s been voted the world’s best ski area as voted by ‘Skiresort.de’ and I can certainly see why! We then headed to Montreux and Vevey in Switzerland, for an exclusive preview of the new Charlie Chaplin museum and to attend a fascinating TravellerMade luxury travel conference. Closer to home, we struck lucky with a sunny day for our visit to Compton Acres in Dorset. It’s one of the most important ornamental gardens in the UK and beautifully maintained. And lastly, we’ve just had a thoroughly relaxing stay at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, you couldn’t wish for a better location though my credit card took a hit in the nearby shops ;-).

March was a truly gourmet month, with foodie outings galore! We were blown away by the fine dining at Chamberlain’s in Leadenhall Market in the City. For a taste of Scotland, Mac and Wild in Fitzrovia was another real winner. I’ve got lots more to share with you in the coming weeks, including the cleverly themed afternoon tea, It’s All in the Game, at the St James’s Hotel and Club.

We stepped back in time at Mr Fogg’s Tavern, had an incredible lunch at One-O-One in Knightsbridge and full-moon cocktails at the Shangri-La. At Chelsea institution, Daphne’s, we loved the cuisine and their package that included tickets to the Botticelli Reimagined exhibition, a colouring book and pencils – I’ll be writing about it soon.

    • It was a really nice afternoon though the service was really bad, but we had fun anyway

  • You had quite the month, Suze! Your skin looks amazing after the fascial, so healthy and dewy. I am due for one, it’s actually been a couple of years, so my skin can certainly use it! Speaking of skin, those products sounds amazing! I’m all for holistic brands and when they’re edible it’s even better because sometimes, you just can’t avoid that it gets in your mouth, haha, and perhaps with these products, it won’t be an accident 😉 Thank so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

I love these roundups! The V&A is my favorite as well 🙂 Where in Andalucía will you be visiting? I recently returned from Granada and Sevilla. The Alhambra blew me away but the entire city of Sevilla really captured my heart! I’d love to live there for a few months. I hope you have a fabulous time and I can’t wait to read about it.

    Happy travels 🙂

    • We’re going to Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Jaen and ubeda – I’ll make sure to read your tips for Granada and Seville!

    Jasiminne: Posh, Broke, & Bored

    • I think that would look good in your shop, Jasiminne, if you could fit it through the door 😉

  • Your afternoon tea at the Waldorf Hilton seemed wonderful and I can imagine how thrilling it must have been to ski in Austria!

    • I’d love to try a tea dance though I’d have to brush up on my dancing skills first – now I’ve brushed up on my skiing 😉 Have a great weekend

  • I’ve never been skiing, as I’m more fan of hotter destinations. Your SPA relaxation looked so dreamy – I can definitely do with one right now 🙂

  • I thought on first title read that you had been segway skiing, and I was open-mouth surprised. What a sport that could be!

  • What exceptional adventures! The Waldorf would be wonderful to see and the skincare products sound heavenly. Can’t wait for more!

  • You had a fun filled month in March, Suze. No wonder I didn’t hear from you in a while! I can see how skiing might have been a little scary, but painting doesn’t seem so intimidating.

  • Lucy

What a brilliant month but to be honest all your monthly round ups sound like brilliant fun. Andalucia and Iceland are both beautiful for very different reasons so you are in for a treat Lucy x

  • Checked out the Serpentine Galleries, very interesting artwork. Always nice to see fresh ideas. Enjoy your travels!
