November is traditionally a rather cold, dark month but I’ve been fortunate to have some wonderful luxury moments to brighten the days up. I was delighted to be named one of the top 10 luxury blogs by Vuelio, the company behind the world’s largest media database and experts in media analysis, and I had some great luxury November moments.
You should definitely check out the Ai Wei Wei Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts if you get the chance before it closes. 1,319 Kickstarter backers contributed £123,000 to bring his installation, Tree, to their courtyard.
Did you know that Christian Dior is the only couture house to have launched its fashion and fragrance ranges on the same day? I went to a fascinating talk by Dior’s UK Ambassador of Fragrance (now that sounds like a fun job!) at private members’ club Home House, showcasing their Collection Privée perfumes.
This month I’ve really enjoyed leafing through (pardon the pun) Great Gardens of London. Written by Victoria Summerley, with stunning photographs by Hugo Rittson Thomas and Marianne Majerus, it delves into London’s most interesting garden spaces, many which are rarely or never open to the public. It makes the perfect coffee table gift for anyone green fingered or like me, who wishes they were!
We had a great time at the launch of Maison Remy Martin’s townhouse in Soho – set over four floors, this pop up private members’ club welcomed celebrities such as Jeremy Renner and yours truly ;-). Sadly we had to leave before he arrived, but the venue was stunning and it played host to some really interesting masterclasses throughout November.
Sandeman Port celebrated their 225th anniversary in style at The Don restaurant. George Sandeman, 7th Generation of Sandeman presented a new collection, whilst we enjoyed paired vintage port and canapés.
I had such fun designing my own belt, who knew a service like that even existed! Flowers are a brilliant way to brighten up someone’s day and with the innovative service from Dutch experts Bloomon you can give or receive a different bouquet fortnightly or monthly. I have to say that they’re the nicest bunch of flowers that I have ever seen, each flower is different, with contrasting heights and foliage. Follow me on Instagram for a chance to win a bouquet later this month.
I trialled two great skin treatments that I’ll be writing about soon, the CACI Ultra Non-Surgical “facelift” where electrical impulses lift and tone the facial muscles, and one with the founder of award winning luxury skincare brand, Face Matters at Fenwicks in Bond Street. For a new take on personalized skincare, KITA Serums are most definitely worth checking out. With my face looked after, it was time to get my hair into shape thanks to Brooks and Brooks, three times winner of London Hairdresser of the Year.
We recently visited the Scottish Highlands staying in an amazing log cabin and trying out dog sledding. Another place that we loved is Herculaneum in Italy, a great alternative to Pompeii. We also spent a luxurious weekend in a private villa in Devon, and visited Burley Manor in the New Forest which is due to open its doors imminently, and is going to be a very hot property! I’ll be blogging about it and the wild horses in Burley village soon.
WINING AND DINING
For relaxed all day dining, Aubaine takes some beating, while Yasmeen is the place to go if you’re craving Lebanese cuisine – and if you haven’t yet tried it, you should! I had a wonderful lunch at The Ivy West Street, as well as in the revamped bar grill of Le Pont de la Tour, and I’ll be posting about Hotel Café Royal, Zaika and Maze Grill Royal Hospital Road soon.
68 and Boston is a funky new venue on Greek Street in Soho, where the bar tenders are in white tuxedos and carve whole blocks of ice to keep your cocktail cool! Denise, aka The Wine Sleuth has been tasked with sourcing their wines and all bottles of wine are priced at £20. They even have champagne at that price occasionally.
Lastly, what better way to spend a dark Winter day then with a chocolate indulgence afternoon tea?
COMING SOON IN DECEMBER
As I write this, I’m lucky to be revisting Monaco and Cannes for ILTM. We’ve hired a car to see more of the area – the roads are very scenic and the sunsets in Monaco were incredible. After Christmas, we’ll be fitting in a short break in the garden of England, Kent.
What are your December plans? Have you started your festive shopping yet?
