Frédérique Constant, the famous luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, has a long standing involvement in charitable initiatives. They have recently announced a partnership with Gwyneth Paltrow, the Oscar®-winning actress and philanthropist. She is their new global Charity Brand Ambassador, and will support the international DonorsChoose organization.
From their base in Plan-les-Ouates near Geneva, Frédérique Constant design and manufacture the highest quality timepieces. They’re still a family run company. In fact the name Frédérique Constant comes from the great-grandparents of the founders – Frédérique Schreinerand Constant Stas.
As a brand, charity is very close to their heart and they’ve been donating $50 for every watch sold from the Ladies Collection to charitable causes since 2004. They have also sponsored many charitable events including « Global Gift » and Variety’s « Power of Women ». Their slogan is “Live your passion”, and it shines through in their philanthropic endeavours as well as their craftsmanship.
New Global Charity Brand Ambassador
Gwyneth Paltrow was a natural fit as Frédérique Constant’s new global Charity Brand Ambassador, as she is an active supporter of children’s’ charities. She took on this exciting new role on March 1st 2016. The charity advertising campaign was shot by celebrity photographer, Tom Munro. Born in England, he moved to New York in 1990 and was Steven Meisel’s apprentice for three years. He’s worked with Vanity Fair, British GQ and many more. He’s managed to capture Gwyneth at her most relaxed – she looks positively glowing. The campaign also features timepieces from the new Classics Delight Collection.
New Classics Delight Collection
This stunning new range combines sleek good looks with technical know-how. Fulfilling Frédérique Constant’s philosophy of accessible luxury, it’s a stylish collection assembled by hand in Switzerland. With their gently curving lines and slim case, they’re casual and classic at the same time. You can choose either a fine grey or blue leather strap or a metal bracelet, and the watches themselves are available either in stainless steel or a two-tone steel and rose-gold plate design, which is my personal favourite.
One of the nicest things about the collection is that $50 will be contributed from each watch sold, directly to support charitable initiatives. This should help to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of many women and children.
Gwyneth Paltrow gives her thoughts on the new Delight Automatic in an exclusive interview. It got me thinking about how excited I was to receive my first watch and for what activities I’m always short of time!
The main focus of Frédérique Constant’s charitable initiatives will be DonorsChoose.org. It’s a clever idea that enables anyone to easily donate money to school projects. Since 2000 when the charity was established, over 2 million people have donated $398 million and more than 17,000,000 students have benefited from art supplies, books, technology and more. It sounds like a great initiative and it’s always nice to know that you’re supporting a good cause.
Do you remember your first timepiece? For what do you always make time?
