Sexy Fish is one of those places that I’ve been meaning to go to for a while so when the invitation came to attend the launch of Bentley’s new Eau de Toilette, Infinite Rush, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.
By the time we arrived, there was already a crowd gathered outside and the buzz continued inside.
Sexy Fish is the brainchild of entrepreneur Richard Caring and whilst some originally criticised the unusual name, it’s certainly memorable. The decor does indeed have a very sexy feel to it with Art Deco touches and flattering low light.
In so many restaurants, basement areas are rather unloved yet at Sexy Fish the downstairs private dining and event space holds a welcome surprise…The Coral Reef Room has two of the biggest coral reef tanks in the world. The mandarin flavoured cocktails were a real treat.
Mr Luxe had even fished out (pardon the pun) a very suitable tie for the occasion ;-). It was quite a conversation starter.
Bentley Infinite Rush aims to infuse luxury with adrenaline, and they’ve created a fragrance that certainly hits all the right notes. Using only the highest quality ingredients, it has intriguing top notes – pink peppercorns, mandarin to symbolize energy and rosemary to express masculinity. Combined with a base of amber wood, musk and tree moss, it successfully encapsulates Bentley’s universe of warmth and luxury. The musk in particular ensures that it lingers for a long time on the skin. That’s not all though, there are also elements of cedar, vetiver and elemi, a resin with a lemon aroma all adding to the complexity of the scent.
The fragrance is designed to appeal to the modern adventurer, who pushes himself to the limit whilst continuously exploring new horizons. The woody, warm scent exudes sensuality yet the citrus and spice top notes keep it contemporary.
We were particularly impressed with the packaging whose generous curves echo those of Bentley Motors. The bottle and the cap are both decorated with silver metal and Bentley’s signature “knurling” is featured on the stopper base, with their iconic winged B for Bentley in the centre of the bottle. Designed by Thierry de Baschmakoff, head of French studio Aesthete, it has a completely innovative crackled effect. Achieved by layering varnish on the glass, which then retracts in a random manner, it ensures that every bottle is slightly different. You can glimpse the fragrance through the cracks. The whole effect is intended to symbolize the cracked earth that this modern adventurer will encounter on his travels. It definitely gives a very luxurious feel and makes you want to touch it. The box is also very classy and all in all, it would make a great gift.
Bentley Infinite Rush really does take you on a journey of the senses. It’s currently available exclusively in Harrods, and will then be stocked in select department stores and perfumeries from April 2016. Our journey was over so we left the warmth of Sexy Fish and stepped out into the cold Mayfair night…I hope you enjoyed it.
